Air Tightness Solutions

Floor Voids

Air Tightness Solutions provide expert advice for the identification and location of air leakage paths within the floor void, floor plenums, raised access floors, allowing testing to be undertaken in line with a client specification, to ensure that the Heating and Ventilation works at its designed efficiency.

BG12 – 2010 Floor Void Airtightness & BG65 – 2016 Floor Plenum Airtightness

When constructing a building with an underfloor Heating and Ventilation System it is critical to test the integrity of the floor void, to ensure conditioned air flows into the occupied zone and does not leak to adjacent areas. It is also important that the air supplied to the plenum discharges through the floor-mounted diffusers or grilles rather than joints between tiles, or between tiles and walls.

Raised access floor leakage is leakage to the occupied zone i.e. leakage through the raised floor, in accordance with BG65 – 2016 the requirement is 1 l/s/m2. Plenum Leakage is leakage out of the plenum not to the occupied zone i.e. not leakage through the raised floor. In accordance with BG65 – 2016 the requirement is 0.7 l/s/m2.
